He was nominated by the Executive Governor of Delta State Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as one of the first eight commissioners-designate. Patrick has actively supported the aspiration of Dr. Okowa and instrumental to the victory of the governor in the elections in the immediate past guber elections. A loyal PDP party man, Patrick remained fervent and a strong voice for the support of the party's several candidates even when it appeared an unattractive proposition.
His appointment is seen as a reward for loyalty. Okpanam looks up to Mr Ukah for a successful tenure as that would make it easier for the long forgotten arm of the State Capital Territory to get more appointments in future.
The keen sports man and lawyer has held national sporting positions in different golf clubs and has single handedly sponsored several golf tourneys in Okpanam. Until his appointment he was the MD CEO of Ventolite Sport Marketing company, which he founded more than 25 years ago.
